We have completed our game cards and won a prize! When reflecting on ELL Bingo this year, here are what some students shared:
I liked when we learned while we played.
We played the games and learned new things that we hadn't learned yet.
My favorite game was Hide The Turkey. I liked the game because we got to learn homophones.
We learned new words. Words that go together and two words that make one word.
This was a fun way to learn! |

Flower Cart Contractions
March 31, 2014
This Scholastic game provides practice in identifying the individual words that are used to form contractions and sorting contractions by family groups. Before playing the game we learned how contractions are formed. We then practiced sorting and forming contractions with is, not, have, will and would. Playing the game was fun!

Celebrate Compounds!
December 20, 2013
ELL students love learning about compound words. It is such a discovery to learn that many words in English are made up of two or more words. They also love to try to create as many compound words as the can using words they already know.
We were writing compound words. It was fun! |
Words, Words, Words
Each year, Grade 2 ELL students enjoy playing ELL Bingo. The bingo board is a combination of word sorts and language games. These sorts and games are a combination of word study activities, sight words and content area vocabulary. They parallel the reading, writing and theme curriculum at our school. The resources I use for the sorts and games are the ELL edition of Words Their Way and Scholastic's file folder games.
